• Working Youth Program:
Working youth program is designed to reach our youth at a very early age from
10 – 16 years old, teaching them the values of contributing to society instead of being stereo typed as a menace to society. We are making an effort to work in conjunction with our children to show them that there is a better way to earn a living besides selling drugs or becoming a member of a gang. We want to reach out to our children and teach them the values and rewards of little hard work. We want them to know that we care about what happens to them and what is important to them. While they will be working, they will also be learning values:
Self respect Respect for others
Accountability Responsibility
Discipline Self control
Self Awareness Anger management
Hope Love for each other
Honor Accomplishment
Rewards Self worth
These are just a few moral values that can be instilled in our youth to help them be productive in the future. Our mission is to give them a sense of pride in who they are. Our children must be ready and equipped to make an honest living and compete in society. NGYAMC is committed to be that driving force to make sure that each and everyone is given the opportunity to propel and succeed in life; One child at a time.
Parent participation is strongly recommended and required. Parents will accompany their child once a month on a Saturday outing for community service, which ranges from volunteer age 5-16 year olds working with Pre-K through 5th grade on reading, math, writing science, art projects and educational field trips around Atlanta, to working in an animal rescue and humane society. While most community service work will be non-payment, NGYACM is working on a (Adopt A Youth Program) that will generate community sponsors to donate 1000.00 dollars a year, 25.00 a week to our working youth for making a difference in his or her community. We are also arranging to have incentives such as bank accounts set up for our youth with matching dollars. We are working with the community residents, and HOA’s to support our working Youth Program by letting our kids wash their cars, first floor front and back windows of their homes on the outside only, raking leaves, cutting grass clean out the garage, area streets in our neighborhoods etc. This type of program will not only enable the kids to earn a little pocket money, but the key is also to bring back the closeness of neighbors and children. Our motto is “it takes a village to raise a child and today a family”. These projects will be arranged and supervised on site for the working youth projects arranged by NGYACM.
• Real Life skills work shop Empowerment for the future: 2008 Ages 14-18
Real Life Skills work shop Empowerment Program is designed to give our youth the necessary tools and skills they need to compete in everyday life. This empowerment program teaches work ethics and self awareness, everything from hair grooming to shinning of their shoes. This is where we prepare our youth for the real work world with real issues. Students participate in role playing, such as interviewing for a job while being video taped so that they can actually see their body language, posture, attitudes, speaking abilities, self esteem and character.
They will learn how to fill out job applications. Learn how to take timed test techniques without losing their memory. They will learn why they should not pierce and tattoo their body parts in obvious places, or at all. Who cares? You should! Respect yourself! Be on TIME, 30 minutes before the scheduled interview. Why you should show up a half hour to an hour for an interview. They will learn resume writing. Learn accountability, self worth, responsibility, self control, discipline. Talk on topics like: What is that chip on your shoulder? Why are you angry with the whole world? You really do care about what others think of you even though you try and pretend you don’t. Where do I fit into this crazy world? We will touch the very heart and soul of every child and show them how to take off their mask and be who they really are and dream of being. Give them pride and dignity to be different from the rest. Bring out the poets, the writers, the artist, the play writer. Give them back their childhood of hopes and dreams.

They may get to meet the Mayor visit his office. They will receive gift cards of 5.00 from their favorite store. They will be encouraged to save their cards so they can buy something they really want at the end of the program. Outside of their neighborhood clean up, they will also participate in other community service projects lead by partnering organizations such as Hands on Atlanta. NGYACM is also a partner with the local neighborhood libraries to teach our shining stars the importance of reading.
